Well we are now residents of Ohio! We packed up all of our earthly belongings and put them into a moving van. Most of those things went to storage and a few of them went to a small one bedroom apartment where Lisa and I are enjoying apartment life again “ha ha”. Never say never my friends! Obedience to God is a wonderful but wild ride!
Our apartment is just down the street from my son and daughter in law’s apartment and we are loving that. There hasn’t been a day that’s gone by so far that we haven’t had kids at the house or staying over or being a part of life here. A tremendous blessing, one that we prayed for and we know that God is honoring.
Last weekend was big. Our youngest (and last) graduated from college with a degree in nursing and also had her bridal shower. It was a lovely weekend marked with plenty of family time and was truly a joyous occasion. So very proud of her!
As for my condition, I am still working hard. I’m trying to maintain mobility with my legs. I now will use a cane at times and in longer distance walks or outings choose to use a portable power chair. This is somewhat difficult for me to accept but the blessing of being able to be a part of all of the things the family is doing far outweighs my pride. I am also working to maintain a higher level of lung functionality. This is a challenging disease and maintaining your ability to breathe well is obviously a top priority.
The medical system here in Ohio has been amazing. I have already been into ALS clinic at Ohio State University, met with a fantastic neurologist and started the process for several different things to integrate into this ALS community. I also have an appointment with a primary care physician to get that going properly and that is a blessing as well.
We are continuing to learn the importance of giving God dominion over every aspect of our lives and also consecrating what is in our lives to Him fully. We refuse to look at the what could have been, and are focusing on what can be. And when you’ve handed it over to God, what can be is a lot brighter than if you hold onto it yourself.
We miss our Nevada family and friends! Not sure I miss the already over 100 degree days though! Onward to help with the planning of our fourth wedding in four calendar years! June is coming quickly!
